The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has their Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign in effect, which highlights a constant police presence searching for drunk drivers as a way of deterring people from drinking and driving. Additionally, Operation Dry Water, whose mission is to reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related accidents and fatalities through increased recreational boater awareness, heightens their awareness and enforcement annually around July fourth.
